If you're like me, you had no clue what save the dates were until Pinterest. If you're still confused, I'm here to clarify!
What Are They?
Save the dates are notices that usually take the form of a card. They tell your guests to reserve that date for your wedding. A formal invitation is later sent, telling your guests the details (location, times, etc.).
*Magnets are becoming more and more popular than cards. Your guests can just pop it on their fridge and be reminded every day to make plans!*

When Do You Send Them?
These are typically sent out 6 months prior to the wedding (8 months for a destination wedding). Sending the date so early may seem a little ridiculous, but isn't getting those guests to attend your goal? Early warnings are necessary, especially if you're having your wedding during a high traveled season. Your guests need time to save cash, book hotel rooms, and ask off work.
Are They Really Necessary?
No. Use your wedding website, tell friends and family, spread the word. This saves the cash for other wedding items. If you're dead set on following proper wedding etiquette, more power to you!
