Making your own centerpieces can save you a ton of cash, but it can be pretty difficult to come up with ideas. Here's four different centerpieces for you to try out for a Shabby Chic, Glamorous, Rustic Elegance, or Classic Rustic wedding!
1. Shabby Chic Vases
What you need:
Instructions:
- Old bottles, mason jars, wine bottles, etc. (you can find a ton at your local thrift store or garage sales in your area).
- Acrylic paint in whatever color you choose.
- Thick piece of cardboard.
Instructions:
- Pour the paint into the jar and roll the jar on its side to spread the paint evenly.
- Turn upside down onto a piece of cardboard to let the excess paint drip out.
- Move jar to new place on the cardboard every 15 minutes.
- Once all of the excess paint has dripped out, let it dry and voila! You've got unique flower containers!

2. Glamorous and Tall
What you need:
Instructions:
This one is a lot more complicated than the first, so here are the step by step instructions from Harlow & Thistle.
- 2 candlesticks
- Bowl (to hold flowers on top)
- 2 wooden circles (one smaller one larger to serve as the base)
- Tacky glue or gorilla glue
- Paint of choice
- * If you want to add glitter to the candlesticks instead, use mod podge and apply just as I did in the DIY Glitter Heels Update tutorial.*

3. Rustic Elegance
What you need:
Instructions:
I'll be doing something like this (minus the flowers and add hanging candles) for my centerpieces!
- Tall glass cylinder vase (You can purchase these for around $10 at your local craft store or smaller ones for $1 at Dollar Tree).
- Water
- Branches you liked from the woods, a neighbor's tree, etc.
- *If you want the flowers you can purchase a bundle of fake ones at your local craft store and hot glue them onto the branches.*
Instructions:
- Fill the glass with water (not all the way to the top)
- Place the branches in the vase.
- Play around with the height and width of the branches until you get the look you want. Easy peasy!

4. Classic Rustic
What you need:
Instructions:
- Logs (Ask friends, family and neighbors if they plan on cutting or trimming a tree or know of someone who is. Ask to keep them.)
- Drill and bit, at least 1.5" in diameter (to make holes for the flowers)
Instructions:
- Using the drill and bit, drill holes into the log. You decide where you want the holes (evenly spaced all across, only in the middle? Get creative!).
- Add some flowers of your choice from your local supermarket and there you go!
- *To keep the flowers fresh, wrap a damp paper towel around the stems before placing them in the holes.*
Pro Tip
To keep flowers looking fresh, add a few drops of vodka or a teaspoon of clear soda (Sprite and 7 up will work) to the water. This way you can make your centerpieces a few days before your wedding instead of the day of!
